Palma...
...
the main town of Majorca is situated on
a long sheltered bay. Narrow streets, the
Paseo Maritimo, patios, churches and museums
invite you to walks and sightseeing. In
the big warehouse "El Corte Inglés" and
on the shopping street "Jaime III" you will
find all kinds of fashion designers, fashion
stores and funky shops. Top class restaurants
with kitchens of the world, pubs, cafés
and tapa-bars take care of you. Exhibitions
and galeries show the works of national
and international artists. On street festivities,
markets and in the fisherman?s harbour you
get to know the native products, such as
wine, cheese, air-dried ham and olive oil.
Strolling along the Paseo Maritimo gives
you a lovely view over the harbour and a
possibility to stop in one of the café-bars
on the sea side. In spring is the international
boat exhibition. Tennis tournaments with
world famous stars, football matches with
the club of Majorca, sailing competitions
with the participation of Spain?s King himself
are some of the sport events in Palma. Palma?s
night life is found in discotheques and
bars, which partly play live music. Famous
stars give concerts and theatre is performed
in several languages. There are public tennis
courts, a 30 km long walking and cycling
path along the sea and a long sandy beach.
